In the tradition of great physician writers like Oliver Sacks, Adam Stern gives us Committed, a memoir of his training in psychiatry. We get to meet Dr. Stern, his co-residents, patients, and mentors. We are given access to their fears, dreams, successes, and failures.Ultimately, in telling his story, Dr. Stern manages to humanize his patients, his colleagues, and even Harvard.Committed is an engaging and easy read, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in mental health, medical training, psychiatry, or the human condition.This book would make such an excellent premise for a TV show… I hope Dr. Stern writes more!
