I enjoyed this book at the beginning. It had an interesting story line and introduced a cast of characters that were well-developed and had some depth. I was totally into it until about the halfway point, and then it started losing me. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what happened. By the time I finished the book, I decided that it seemed like it was trying to be too many different things (straight suspense, romantic suspense, mystery). There wasn't enough "dark" to it for it to even remotely fall into the psychological thriller or plain old thriller categories.I liked both of the main characters, Jake and Georgia, but there wasn't enough of a relationship buildup for this to really be a romantic suspense. On a hotness scale of 1-10 (with 10 being smokin'), I would rate this one at about a 2.The mystery element was pretty good, but I figured out who the "bad guy" was early on, so that detracted somewhat from my enjoyment of the book. Sometimes, even if I figure out whodunit early in a story, I'm still able to be engaged in the material and remain into it. That wasn't the case here. I think there just wasn't enough intensity throughout the book.Thankfully, I got this one on the cheap. I paid a buck or two for it, and honestly, that's about what it's worth. I don't recommend paying full price for this one unless you're really into tame, middle-of-the-road mystery/suspense stories.
